Information on Social Issues
Because of the nature of the Association as a body which works on behalf of the churches, it cannot and does not speak on behalf of the churches on any matter. Therefore it does not make public pronouncements on social issues. This lies within the function of each local church.
However the Association seeks to encourage the churches to address and comment on relevant issues. It gleans information from government departments and agencies and also from Christian organisation at work in this field and brings this to th attention of the churches. This page is part of that function.
In recent years the Assoictaion has networked with the Christian Institute in these matters and transmitted the information to the churches. The christian Institute web page can be accessed by clicking its logo below.
The christian Institute has just published a document setting out the treatment of Christians that it believes is becoming copmmon place today. This will be of interest to churches. An Adobe Acrobat copy can be obtained by cliciking HERE.
Another issue is that of the bill of Rights proposed for Northern Ireland as part of the Gorrd Friday Agreement. Information on it and the baility to respond to government on the points raised may be accessed by clicking HERE.
